Special Use Permits (SUP)

What is a Special Use Permit?

A special park use is a short-term activity that takes place in a park area and:

• Provides a benefit to an individual, group or organization, rather than the public at large;
• Requires written authorization and some degree of management control from the NPS in order to protect park resources and the public interest;
• Is not prohibited by law or regulation; and
• Is neither initiated, sponsored, nor conducted by the NPS.

Weddings

Bryce Canyon will provide a spectacular backdrop for your wedding. Locations are restricted and a permit application, as well as other information, is available at our Getting Married at Bryce Canyon page.

Scattering Cremated Remains

Bryce Canyon National Park does allow the scattering of cremated human remains within the park. Visit our page on Scattering Cremated Remains to learn more.

Other Special Uses

Some activities that fall outside normal visitation at Bryce Canyon National Park also require obtaining a Special Use Permit. Use a General Special Use Permit Application to apply for activities such as sporting events or races, large group activities, and more.

Use the First Amendment Permit application to apply for a first amendment activity within the park.

Commercial Use Authorizations
