The Visitor Center, Museum, and Reconstructed Barracks is currently open 5-days a week, Wednesday through Sunday. The buildings are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

The Visitor Center offers a 17-minute film, museum exhibits, including an archeology room, and gift shop. The Reconstructed Barracks, located next door, featured the award-winning Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Exhibit and individual biographies of soldiers and civilians who experienced Camp Nelson during the Civil War. The grounds feature over 4-miles of trails that allow you to explore the historic grounds of the site.

The Perry House is closed for extensive renovations. The grounds and trails are accessible seven days a week from dawn to dusk. To get a trail guide map of the park, or a passport stamp after the Visitor Center is closed, be sure to visit the front porch of the building.
