Join us for a special ranger-led snowshoe tour celebrating Brian Head's 50th anniversary! This guided 1-mile roundtrip snoshoe hike through the stunning Cedar Breaks National Monument offers a unique opportunity to connect with both nature and history.

Participants will enjoy a short, fun hike through the snowy sub-alpine forest. As we hike along this half mile (one-way) trail, visitors will hear the fascinating story of Brian Head's origins and its transformation into the resort destination it is today. At the turnaround point, enjoy breathtaking views and a deeper understanding of how this area's past continues to shape its future.

The equipment, including snowshoes and a pair of ski poles, are available to all participants at no cost. There is no fee for joining a Guided Snowshoe Tour, however, there is an entrance fee to visit the park. Each group will be required to pay an entrance fee of $25 per vehicle. Alternatively, Interagency Annual Passes, also called America the Beautiful Pass, will waive the per-person fee of visitors traveling together in a single vehicle.

All Guided Snowshoe Tours will meet and depart from the Visitor Contact Station at North View Overlook. This location does not have an official address, but you can map it using the following coordinates: 37.656968, -112.833944

How to Register

Visit our event page on EventBrite to register for the free snowshoe tour. You will receive a confirmation email with more details after registration.

Difficulty

This Guided Snowshoe Tour is beginner friendly, but any trail is tough at an elevation of 10,000 feet. Participants will be hiking a total of 1-mile, round trip, over terrain that features a mix of up- and down-hill inclines. Cedar Breaks is located at 10,000 feet and increases the difficulty level of any hike.

What to Wear

Dress for cold and wet conditions. It is better to wear more layers that can be shed throughout the hike than to not have enough layers and be uncomfortable for the duration of the Guided Snowshoe Tour. It is also recommended that you wear a water resistant outer layer, if available.
Our rangers recommend packing sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and snacks. Also, if you own an Interagency Annual or America the Beautiful pass, do not forget to bring it along.

No Restrooms Available

There are no restroom facilities available within the park. The closest restrooms are located outside the park in the town of Brian Head along Hwy 143. Please plan accordingly.
