Massai Point is Beautiful and Historic

Eight miles of amazing geology culminate at Massai Point with a nature trail, picnic tables, and exhibits. On the road see the sites below!

Scenery Begins Right at the Entrance

Welcome to the park. The entrance booth is often unmanned today because we don't charge a fee. Check for important info in the window.

Next Stop: Bonita Creek on the Left

This is often the best place for birding in the park. Bonita Creek trail is ADA accessible with picnic tables and a pit toilet.

Disconnect Trailers at Faraway Ranch

There is no trailer or large RV turnaround after Faraway. Day users must disconnect trailers before proceeding. RVs over 29 feet stop here.

Stroll Faraway Ranch Historic District

Proprietors of this guest ranch so "awful far away from it all" brought the Wonderland of Rocks into public view. Stroll and read about it.

Historic Visitor Center Museum & Store

Stop at the Visitor Center to get a map, see the museum exhibits, park film, stamp your passport, buy books, gifts, craft, and souvenirs.

Campground is Just 1/2 Mile

The campground is the last stop for any vehicle over 24 feet. The road narrows, winding steeply up the mountain.

Admire the Geology as you Drive Up

You'll drive past the Organ Pipe Formation, and 4 more pull offs on your way to the top. It's easiest to stop for these on the way down.

Natural Bridge Trailhead

Natural Bridge Trailhead has 3 small parking space for this 4.8 mile hike. The trail ends at a small bridge across a canyon.

 
After the Natural Bridge Trailhead, you'll drive past several pull out on the opposite side of the road. At the top, turn right to visit Echo Canyon and Sugarloaf or continue straight to end at Massai Point.

Massai Point has beautiful views to take in. Sugarloaf and Echo Canyon parking areas have great hiking options.
