Revolutionary Festival starts at 3:00 pm Screening starts at 7:00 pm Join us on Saturday, September 20 for an extraordinary event set on the historic grounds of the Yorktown Battlefield — an exclusive sneak peek screening of acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns’s newest documentary, The American Revolution before it premieres on television. Colonial National Historical Park, in partnership with WHRO Public Media, York County, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and the VA250 Commission, invites the public to a special screening set against the historic backdrop of the Yorktown Battlefield. Be among one of the first to experience the incredible storytelling and vivid imagery for which Ken Burns is known, all set against the backdrop of the very battlefield where these events unfolded. The entire 12 hour, 6-part documentary, which includes scenes filmed at the Yorktown Battlefield, Historic Yorktown, and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, as well as Jamestown Settlement, Historic Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg, premieres on PBS on November 16. The film is co-directed by Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. Schmidt, a Virginia native, will also participate in the event. The Revolutionary Festival promises a range of hands-on history activities and live music, creating a fun and festive atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
