Kittatinny Point Bathroom Renovation

The restrooms at Kittatinny Point Picnic Area desperately needed renovations, including asbestos abatement, sewer and water line repairs, and mold remediation.

The fee dollars funded the contractors in order to renovate, repair, and remediate the restrooms, which will likely reopen in summer 2025.

Maintain the McDade Recreational Trail (MRT)

The MRT is a trail that parallels the Delaware River through most of the park on the Pennsylvania side.

This trail is about 32 miles long and consists of packed gravel, bridges, and some dirt sections. Used during all seasons for hiking, walking, biking, hunting, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more, this trail sees a lot of use and needs regular maintenance to keep it safe and managed.

Your fee dollars help maintain the trail by funding regular resurfacing, stabilization, repairs, and invasive plant management.

Replace Park Entrance Signs

Signage is important for orientation when exploring a new place.

With over 70 roadway entrances to the park, clear signage at entrance points is important for a positive visitor experience. With your fee dollars, the park was able to replace 13 entrance signs throughout the park.

Rehabiliation of Hornbecks Trail Sections

Upper and Lower Hornbecks are beautiful trails that follow the Hornbecks Creek through a hemlock ravine featuring multiple waterfalls.

Major storms caused significant damage and caused flooding, erosion, and infrastructure destruction.

Crews worked to fix issues and create features that allowed for better drainage to prevent erosion. Sections of the trails had to be rerouted out of the flood zone for safety and stability. A section of the Upper Hornbecks trail was rerouted to connect with the Ridgeline Trail from Pocono Environmental Education Center.

Your fee dollars helped to rehabilitate these two sections of trail so that visitors could once again enjoy the trail.
