We Offer Ranger-led Field Trips, Virtual Programs and Classroom Visits!
Incorporate Fort Bowie National Historic site into your class curriculum. The park is an excellent outdoor classroom to learn about the history of the region and wildlife. All programs are free and designed to meet Arizona state curriculum standards.
Ranger-led Field Trip: Hike Through History
Grades 4-12 | Full Day (9:00am to 1:30pm)
Fort Bowie witnessed almost 25 years of conflict between the Chiricahua Apache and the US Army, and remains a tangible connection to the turbulent era of the late 1800s. Learn more about the stories and people that make Fort Bowie National Historic Site so important to the American West while exploring the ruins and the exhibits inside the visitor center.
Requires a 3-mile, round-trip hike with a limit of 25 students plus chaperones.
To schedule an education program, please fill out an Education Reservation Request Form and submit it to us by email. You do not need to fill out section 5 of the form, which pertains to academic fee waivers, since we are a fee-free park.
