Natural Features & Ecosystems

First State is made up of both the Piedmont Plateau and the Atlantic Coast Plains, which offers a wide range of natural features such as dense deciduous forests and swift flowing creeks and rivers that lead into the Delaware Bay and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. This unique landscape is what provided the Lenape people with everything they needed to survive and is also what attracted so many people to colonize in Delaware.
