Become a Shorebird Ambassador!

Do you want to learn more about the coastal environment and the populations of shorebirds that rely on these ecosystems? Become a Shorebird Ambassador to educate the public on shorebird ecology, generate observation reports, and participate in events that benefit the species and coastal ecosystem!

The Shorebird Ecology Ambassador VIPs assist in protecting the Piping Plover and other threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds across Gateway National Recreation Area. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with shorebird protection projects (such as installing symbolic fencing/signs), monitoring beach use and nesting sites, staffing an information booth in the beach plazas, and educating beach users about the local wildlife & habitat.

This opportunity begins on March 1 and runs through August 30. Applications for this volunteer position close May 23, 2025 11:59PM
