Common Juniper (Juniperus communis)

The common juniper is a small shrub, and sometimes a tree. Its trees can grow up to 33 ft. tall and live up to 200 years. The tree’s bark is grey-brown while the branches are red-brown in color. This plant is native to the region and can be seen on trails lining the coast. The common juniper serves a vital role in the environment by providing food and shelter for small animals.
