Dining
There are numerous year-round dining options surrounding Gateway National Recreation Area. There are also options in the park itself.
Riis Beach Cooperative is located at Jacob Riis Park and is open during the summer season.
McFly's on the Hook is a convenience store located on 52 McNair Road in the Sandy Hook Unit. Visit their website for hours and more. The Mule Barn is a sit down restuarant located on 36 Kearney Road in the Sandy Hook Unit. Visit their website for hours and menur.
There are also food trucks that operate on the Sandy Hook beaches between Memorial Day - September 30.
Picnicking
There are picnic areas in all units of the park. Permits are required for picnics at Miller Field (Staten Island) and Fort Tilden (Jamaica Bay). Permits are not required for picnics at Canarsie Pier, Jacob Riis Park, or Sandy Hook.
Lodging
Since Gateway is located in NYC and metropolitan NJ, there are many options of lodging outside of the park to choose from.
There are also some short term rentals and a campsite at Sandy Hook. Campsite reservations must be made through recreation.gov.
