Orchard Care

This team of volunteers assists with the regular maintenance of 44 historic orchards spread throughout the park. Duties include tree pruning, deadwood removal, thinning fruit, and removing debris, such as raking leaves and fallen fruit. Training for these duties is required and provided. Regular orchard maintenance improves the aesthetic of these iconic areas and also supports tree health and longevity, protecting the orchards from strong winds, disease, and pests. The work schedule is flexible and continuous, as orchard maintenance can be carried out year-round.
