Camping is a fun and popular activity that many folks throughout the world enjoy. During the summer months, Glacier National Park sees an incredibly high volume of visitors. With the sheer number of park visitors, campgrounds within the park tend fill up fast and reservations are booked quickly when released. If you are unable to stay in a campground in Glacier, or are simply looking to explore new places, the state of Montana is home to a number of incredible places to recreate, explore, and camp. Here are some camping options outside of Glacier National Park. Please remember campers must be in a designated campsite when spending the night in the park.

Blackfeet Nation Campgrounds

Tucked away among the majestic mountains of western Montana and the vast plains of central Montana sits the Blackfeet Reservation. It is located on the eastern boundary of Glacier National Park and totals 1.5 million acres, making the Blackfeet Reservation one of the largest reservatons in the United States. It is here you'll find campground options located within a few miles from some of the park's eastern entrances.

Flathead National Forest

Nestled to the west and south of Glacier National Park lies the Flathead National Forest. Covering 2.4 million acres within the Rocky Mountains, the Flathead National Forest offers an abundance of recreational opportunities while surrounded by rugged wilderness. With campgrounds, ski areas, and over 2,000 miles of trails, there is always something to do for people looking for a more rugged, outdoor experience.

Located southeast of Glacier National Park is the Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest. Covering 2.8 million acres in central and north central Montana, there are numerous opportunities for recreation throughout all seasons. Outdoor experiences await those who are seeking a more rustic, wilderness experience.
