Sharing the Culture with Respect: Enjoy your tour of our Ancestors’ House! Please know that this building, including all carvings, paintings, and associated stories have deep, spiritual significance to the Huna Łingít. Respect is a core value that all Łingít live by, and we ask that you honor our histories with reverence. The artwork and the treasured oral histories they depict, are specific to and owned by clans. Please respect our heritage by refraining from sharing our art and clan histories.

The Hoonah Indian Association and Glacier Bay National Park welcome you to virtually visit our treasured Xúnaa Shuká Hít (Huna Ancestors' House). Take our guided "Quick Tour" or choose the "Object Tour" to discover the vibrant, living culture of the Huna Łingít and learn about their enduring connection to Glacier Bay Homeland.

Built on the shoreline of Bartlett Cove in Glacier Bay National Park, Xunaa Shuká Hít was designed to commemorate clan houses lost during the glacial advances of the Little Ice Age. It serves as “a gathering place where tribal members, park visitors, and National Park Service staff are inspired to learn about and preserve Łingít history, culture, life ways, and traditions.” The process of working together on this common dream has ensured the preservation of traditional skills and knowledge, encouraged intergenerational learning, engendered communication on a range of issues, and healed and strengthened relationships between the park and the tribe.

The Tribal House has become a symbol of healing. It serves as a creative space to explore new paradigms and approaches, a safe place to hold difficult conversations, and a model for restorative justice and reconciliation.
