Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) offers regular ranger-led field trips for local Bay area students. Self-guided visits are also available for select education programs.
Advance reservations are required for all groups planning a ranger-led education program at GGNRA. All ranger led education programs are free.
Self-Guided Education Programs
A self-guided field trip can be the best choice for classes looking for flexibility and independence. Whether you prefer to lead your own visit or have a unique schedule, this option lets you explore the park site at your own pace.
Classes may request a brief ranger-led introduction at the start of your visit to greet students and help orient your group. This is completely optional and based on staff availability. The rest of the experience is self-guided.

For a more structured and immersive experience, consider a ranger-led program.
These programs follow a three-touch model designed to give your students the most meaningful connection to the site. To participate, your class will need to:
Complete pre-visit lessons before the ranger-led presentation to help students build background knowledge.
Schedule a 55-minute ranger-led presentation to take place 1 to 7 days before your field trip.
Complete a post-visit lesson to reflect on and wrap up the experience.
