When visiting the park, junior rangers who complete the activity booklet can receive a Great Sand Dunes badge.

The Junior Ranger Program is a great way for kids to learn about their park! Most National Park Service and other public land areas have a Junior Ranger program; kids can collect badges from over 400 National Park Service sites.

Completing the Booklet in the Park

The Junior Ranger activity booklet is designed for completing during your visit to the park. At Great Sand Dunes, plan on a total visit of at least 2 hours to complete the Junior Ranger Booklet, available at the visitor center. There are three different age groups in the booklet: 3-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13 and up.You are invited to complete all sections for your age group and earn a Great Sand Dunes Junior Ranger Badge

Completing the Junior Ranger Booklet without Visiting the Park

The Junior Ranger booklet is designed to complete while visiting Great Sand Dunes. You can complete the booklet at home and mail or email it to the park, but only patches or stickers are available by mail due to the high cost of mailing badges.
