Record of Determination to close the sidewalk near the intersection of Shenandoah and Potomac Streets to public use. 36 CFR 1.5 (a)(l) - General Closures - The sidewalk near the intersection of Shenandoah and Potomac Streets within the boundaries of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park will be closed for the maintenance of public health and safety until further notice. While performing ongoing rehabilitation work on a historic building, the National Park Service identified a potential safety issue warranting the closure of the sidewalk near the intersection of Shenandoah and Potomac streets in the Lower Town area of Harpers Ferry. To mitigate the chance that falling debris may injure pedestrians on the sidewalk below, the Superintendent has directed the closure of the sidewalk. The area of the sidewalk closure runs from the main entrance of the John Brown Museum on Shenandoah Street, to the corner of Shenandoah and Potomac Streets, and to and including the exterior stairs of the John Brown Museum on Potomac Street. Notice of this public use limitation will be made on the park's webpage and at the park visitor center. The closure area will be physically marked by signs and barricades. This determination is available to the public upon request. /s/ Tanya M. Gossett Superintendent Harpers Ferry National Historical Park |
