Join a ranger for an introduction to the site’s history as an iron plantation community during the American Industrial Revolution as well as the natural and cultural resources present throughout the park.

Walking Tour

Walk with a ranger to learn more about iron-making at Hopewell, the people who lived and worked here, and how places like this shaped the nation.

Hands-On History: Molding and Casting

Try your hand as a Hopewell Molder! Try the hands-on process of making a sand mold and "casting" molds with plaster. Gain a better understanding of the craft of the molder and how they contributed to the furnace operation.

Hike Through History

Learn how the land shaped the people who lived here and how people shaped it. Discover the story of this relationship, from the heyday of the iron industry, freedom seekers and Black workers, the Civilian Conservation Corps’ work here, and all the way through today on a guided hike.
