December Events: Martial Law

Hawaiʻi was the only U.S. territory to undergo Martial Law during WWII, resulting in a very different lived experience for the residents of Hawaiʻi in comparison to their continent counterparts. Even if residents of Hawaiʻi were not incarcerated, no one was spared from the strict curfews and blackouts that were instituted for years across the Islands.

These marked differences are the focus of this month where we will partner with the experts who will talk in-depth about the effects of Martial Law across the Islands during WWII. In addition, there will be special tours, a pop-up exhibit, and a book display.

Please Note:

This month's Speaker Series Event will be in person.

Event details will be posted closer to the month in which they take place. Please check back for updates to the
calendar and event pages.
