Ranger Talks

Our Ranger Talk covers many topics surrounding jazz music. We cover the establishment and growth of the city of New Orleans. We talk about the many cultural aspects of New Orleans that allowed jazz music to develop. We examine the lasting influence these cultures and this music had on the world and modern New Orleanian culture. Ranger Talks take place most days at 11AM, please see our calendar.

Musical Programming

Our programs are not simply concerts. The New Orleans Jazz National Historical features worlld class musicians in an intimate setting. We encourage informal and informational programming. Our performers talk with the audience. They not only cover musical history, but also topics more personal. Musicians tell their stories, influences, and field questions.

Performance Opportunity

Would your jazz band like a chance to perform in the Big Easy? We do our best to accomodate school groups both local and afar at the French Quarter VIsitor Center located at 419 Decatur Street. We have a small theatre which seats 40 people and is suitable for musical ensembes up to 7 or 8 pieces, as well as the opportunity to perform in the courtyard for larger ensmbles, weather permitting. We work with you on a case to case basis. We do everything we can to make the performance memorable. We can also help you arrange a guest artist to feature or workshop with your band. Please email us to schedule a performance.
