What is Citizen Science?

It's people like you making observations, collecting data, and helping researchers answer questions. It's protecting and preserving America's treasures. It's fun and it's surprisingly easy to do.

For Students

Citizen science project field trips are available at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center. The field trips are designed for grades K-12. Students learn about preserving history and the importance of Louisiana's wetlands. Groups take part in real-life conservation and environmental issues through hands-on research projects. To schedule a free field trip, call 985-448-1375 or email the park.

For Adults (ages 16 and up)

Share your observations and add to scientific knowledge. Take Phenology Training at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center.

What's phenology? It's the study of cyclical seasonal changes in the environment.

Learn how to identify seasonal changes of plants on the Bayou Lafourche. It's part of the Gulf Coast Phenology Trail. Enter data on a website or app. Contribute to current scientific research.

Free trainings happen throughout the year; call 985-448-1375 or email the park.
