Walk with a park ranger through the remains of the South Fork Dam. Students learn about the South Fork Dam, South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, the day the dam broke, and the impact of the flood on the Conemaugh Valley. This interpretive walk lasts approximately 45 minutes and starts on top of the dam. Students can see where the dam broke and the Unger Farm. The tour proceeds to the bottom of the dam via stairs, through the breach and back up out of the dam on the other side. Please note that the last portion of the walk contains a steep section with stairs. The walk is approximately 1/3 mile. Students are encouraged to wear proper shoes, bring water and dress for the weather. |
