Southwest Campground has 20 walk-in tent sites and 15 RV Parking Lot sites. The campground shares a parking lot with Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at the park’s southwest entrance. The Mill Creek Falls Trail begins from the north side of the campground, below the amphitheater. Use caution when recreating through burned areas.

Southwest Campground is first-come, first-served; payment is made via Scan & Pay through recreation.gov’s mobile app. The camping fee is in addition to the park entrance fee and must be paid separately. Campsite locations and policies change with the presence of snow on the ground - please see the applicable season for appopriate camping details.

All camping payments are made through the Scan and Pay system. You must first download the recreation.gov mobile app to your phone. It is highly recommended that you download the app prior to coming to the park as connectivity can be limited at times. Instructions for the Scan and Pay system are located on the bulletin board at the campground.

Summer / Fall Season

No Snow – approximately June through October

When no snow is present, the walk-in campsites are available and the summer/fall camping fee applies. During the warmest summer months, approximately May through September, water and restrooms are available. Once freezing temperatures occur, typically in October, those facilities close. 24-hour restrooms and water are always available in the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center lobby.

Winter / Spring Season

Snow – approximately November through May

When snow is present, the walk-in tent sites are closed. All overnight vehicles must be parked in the center of the lot, between the two islands, to allow for snow plowing operations. Fires and fire pans are not permitted in winter, but self-contained barbeques and gas stoves are allowed in the paved parking area. 24-hour restrooms and water are always available in the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center lobby; campground facilities are closed in winter.
