You will find many opportunities in Los Alamos to explore the history of the Manhattan Project and World War II. Los Alamos is designated as an American World War II Heritage City to honor the contributions of the communities and citizens who stepped into the workforce to support America's war effort during World War II.

The park visitor center, museums, World War II-era gathering places, pre-Manhattan Project structures and other sites share a multitude of stories that bring the history of the Manhattan Project to life. These places tell the story of a secret city and its role in the design, testing, and construction of the world’s first atomic weapons.
