Six years after Day's death, his daughter Marion and her husband Louis Warnes began running Dunesmobile rides out of Glen Haven. It started with a 1934 Ford which took four people out to the crest of the dunes and back. It was a thrilling 35-minute ride that took passengers to the crest of the dunes and back for 25 cents each. By the time the rides ended in 1978, there were 13 dunes wagons each carrying 14 passengers on a 12 mile, 35-minute excursion.

The Philip A. Hart Visitor Center houses brochures, books, park passes, and all the sound advice you'll need to plan your visit. The visitor center has displays of Sleeping Bear Dune's natural history, fauna and flora, geology, history, and stories about people of the park.

The Horseshoe Pond area was once part of the historic Bishop Farm. By the second half of the 1900s, the Bishops were planting and selling Christmas trees. Take the Tree Farm Trail to see how nature is reclaiming these old fields.

The Hanka Homestead was occupied by members of the Hanka family, Finnish immigrants, from 1896 until 1966. Herman Hanka settled here with his family after he was injured in a copper mining accident. The farm was originally homesteaded at a time of mass immigration from Finland to the United States. The homestead is relatively intact and unaltered from its appearance in the 1920s. This museum is an official partner of Keweenaw National Historical Park.

New Bethel Baptist Church is one of only a few pre-Manhattan Project structures remaining from Scarboro community. The church’s congregation was founded in 1851 but this structure was built in 1924. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Located on the secure Oak Ridge National Laboratory grounds, the church is not currently accessible to the public.

Charles Robinson was the third Keeper stationed at the Sleeping Bear Point Life-Saving Station. He had ancestral ties to the Odawa people, as his grandparents were of Odawa heritage.

Canyon Rim Trail begins behind Saddlehorn Visitor Center. About a half mile walk along the rim of Wedding Canyon provides scenic views.

Ute Canyon Trail can be accessed from above or below. The upper trailhead is on Rim Rock Drive and begins with a half-mile steep descent on switchbacks down to the canyon bottom. The lower access is from Wildwood Trailhead outside the Monument. Follow Liberty Cap or Corkscrew Trails up to the connection with Ute Canyon.

Monument Canyon Trail in Colorado National Monument has upper access from Rim Rock Drive and a lower trailhead accessed from outside the Monument. Trail travels along the feet of many of the named monoliths.

Liberty Cap Trail in Colorado National Monument has upper access from Rim Rock Drive and lower access from Wildwood Trailhead. The Liberty Cap rock formation is a dome of Wingate Sandstone at the foot of Monument Mesa.

Devils Kitchen Trail begins just inside the East (Grand Junction) Entrance. Less than a mile hike leads to a grotto of sandstone towers and boulders.

Corkscrew Trail in Colorado National Monument begins at Liberty Cap Trail from the Wildwood Trailhead. Sections of this winding trail were originally built by John Otto.

The Capitol Gorge trail features natural pools of water and markings from early pioneers and travelers.

Woodend Nature Sanctuary offers 40 acres of restored forests, meadows, and streams in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it features nature trails, interactive exhibits, a nature playground and an historic mansion.
