North Kaibab Trail is the least visited and most difficult of the major inner canyon trails. The trail is challenging for day hikers as well as rim-to-rim hikers. As of October 17, 2024, North Kaibab TRAILHEAD water has been shut off for the winter. Always carry a way to filter or treat creek water, in the event the water stations at Manzanita and Cottonwood Campground are not working.

The Highland River Access is a public river access for the Delaware River located in Minisink Ford, in between Lackawaxen, PA and Barryville, NY. It is owned by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. This is a canoe/kayak access only.

Six years after Day's death, his daughter Marion and her husband Louis Warnes began running Dunesmobile rides out of Glen Haven. It started with a 1934 Ford which took four people out to the crest of the dunes and back. It was a thrilling 35-minute ride that took passengers to the crest of the dunes and back for 25 cents each. By the time the rides ended in 1978, there were 13 dunes wagons each carrying 14 passengers on a 12 mile, 35-minute excursion.

The Village of Boston grew up alongside a canal on the east side of the Cuyahoga River and a railroad on the west side of the river. Boston Store Trailhead provides limited mobility parking on the east side. Use it to access the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and refreshments at Boston Store. This small trailhead does not accommodate over-sized vehicles.

Pine Lane Trailhead provides access to two of the longest trails that pass through the national park: the Buckeye and the Valley. This is a good starting point for hikers and runners who want to avoid the crowds and challenge themselves with hills.

Bright Angel Trailhead is located just west of Bright Angel Lodge, Lookout Studio, and Kolb Studio. At 6,840 feet (2,085 m), it provides access for hikers and mules to many inner canyon destinations. From the Hermit Road Interchange shuttle bus stops, it is a short walk to the east, and up a hill, on a paved footpath to the trailhead. This well-maintained dirt trail offering wonderful expansive views. This is a great trail for short day hiking trips into the canyon of half a day or less. During winter months foot traction and hiking poles are advised when trail surfaces are icy. There is no public parking at the South Kaibab Trailhead. Please park at the Visitor Center, then take the Kaibab (Orange) Route shuttle bus to the trailhead. It is a 9-minute ride from the Visitor Center to the Trailhead.

The Backcountry Info Center is open daily from 8 am–noon; and 1 pm–5 pm, and provides information, permits, and trip planning assistance about day and overnight hikes into the canyon. The building is located in the village by Parking Lot D, and across the railroad tracks from Maswik Lodge. Park in Lot D, then take the free, early morning Hikers' Express bus from Backcountry Info Center to South Kaibab Trailhead.

Ute Canyon Trail can be accessed from above or below. The upper trailhead is on Rim Rock Drive and begins with a half-mile steep descent on switchbacks down to the canyon bottom. The lower access is from Wildwood Trailhead outside the Monument. Follow Liberty Cap or Corkscrew Trails up to the connection with Ute Canyon.

Old Gordon Trail in Colorado National Monument begins at the Devils Kitchen Trailhead, just inside the East (Grand Junction) Entrance. Trail travels uphill on sandstone slabs most of the way.

Monument Canyon Trail in Colorado National Monument has upper access from Rim Rock Drive and a lower trailhead accessed from outside the Monument. Trail travels along the feet of many of the named monoliths.

Liberty Cap Trail in Colorado National Monument has upper access from Rim Rock Drive and lower access from Wildwood Trailhead. The Liberty Cap rock formation is a dome of Wingate Sandstone at the foot of Monument Mesa.

Devils Kitchen Trail begins just inside the East (Grand Junction) Entrance. Less than a mile hike leads to a grotto of sandstone towers and boulders.

Black Ridge Trail follows some of the highest elevations in Colorado National Monument. Trailhead access begins near Saddlehorn Visitor Center, CCC Trail, and Upper Liberty Cap Trail.

The Capitol Gorge trail features natural pools of water and markings from early pioneers and travelers.

Mound City Group is the smallest of the Hopewell sites in Ross County, but it very well may contain the largest stories of this remarkable culture. The site is home to the park's only visitor center. Grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk while the visitor center building maintains regular hours of operation.

The pollinator garden at Resaca de la Palma Battlefield helps provide plants for use by local wildlife in a landscape where their habitat is highly fragmented.
