Permits & Reservations

Permits and Reservations

To ensure the preservation and enjoyment of Moores Creek National Battlefield, most special events and activities require a special use permit. These permits are issued after the National Park Service (NPS) verifies that the activities will not impair park values and resources.

Who Needs a Special Use Permit?

A special use permit is necessary for activities that:

· Benefit an individual, group, or organization rather than the public

· Require NPS management to protect resources and public interest

· Are not initiated, sponsored, or conducted by the NPS

These permits must be obtained in advance, and most likely will involve a fee.

Examples of Activities Requiring Permits:

· Rental of Patriots Hall for events

· First Amendment activities, including demonstrations and church services

· Commercial filming or photography

· Functions starting or ending in the park · Scientific research

Picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and do not require a permit.
