![]() NPS Construction at Fort Washington Park begins this spring to repair an eroding ravine and improve stormwater management. The project will stabilize the storm drain outfall, restore the ravine channel, and plant native trees and vegetation to help manage stormwater. Large construction equipment is staged in the parking lot adjacent to picnic areas B1 and B2. Starting March 17, the parking lot is closed for construction. This closure will remain in place until fall 2025. NOTICE TO THE PUBLICMarch 3, 2025: The National Park Service is imposing a temporary closure in Fort Washington Park of a section of the parking lot near picnic area B2. This area will be closed to the public beginning at 12:00 a.m. March 17, 2025 and continuing until October 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the closed park areas is attached. This temporary closure is necessary to provide for visitor safety during a comprehensive rehabilitation project to restore and preserve park resources and improve the visitor experience. Persons using these park areas should remove themselves and any property from the closed areas by 11:59 p.m. on March 16, 2025.
