Administration

The Administration Team ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the park by managing budgets, contracts, procurement, and special use permits. By prioritizing effective resource management and careful planning, the team supports sustainable park operations that maximize value while maintaining safety and accountability. Their diligent coordination keeps the park running seamlessly, allowing visitors to fully enjoy everything the park has to offer.

 

Interpretation and Education

The Interpretation and Education Team at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park creates engaging experiences that connect visitors to the city’s rich maritime heritage and diverse stories. Through dynamic programs, guided and self-guided tours, educational resources, and community outreach, they share the stories of whalemen, entrepreneurs, and communities that shaped New Bedford, including the city’s vital role in the Underground Railroad.

The team develops educational content for both in-person and virtual experiences, including interpretive tours, digital resources, and special events. They work collaboratively with partners and community members to create programs that resonate with diverse audiences, inspiring curiosity and fostering stewardship.

By combining creativity, historical accuracy, and clear communication, the Interpretation and Education Team enhances the visitor experience and builds lasting connections to New Bedford’s remarkable past.

 

Resource Management

The Resource Management Team works tirelessly to protect the park’s cultural and historical treasures. Through strategic planning, research, and collaboration with partners, they ensure that historic buildings, landscapes, and museum collections are preserved efficiently and responsibly. Their efforts focus on long-term sustainability and visitor safety, balancing public access with thoughtful stewardship.

 

Visual Information Specialist

The Visual Information Specialist brings the park’s stories to life through creative and engaging media. From crafting visually compelling graphics and interpretive materials to producing content for digital platforms and print publications, they ensure that park messaging is both impactful and easy to understand. Whether designing brochures, posters, or digital displays, safety is always a priority, and materials are thoughtfully created to help visitors navigate the park confidently and enjoy their experience with clear, informative visuals.

 

Information Technology (IT)

The IT Team keeps the park connected and running smoothly by managing digital infrastructure, computer systems, and network connectivity. They provide essential technical support that enhances operations and visitor engagement, making it easy for the public and staff to access accurate information and resources when needed.
