Special Use Permit

What is a Special Use Permit?

A Special Use Permit (SUP) is a requirement for certain special events at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, such as weddings, organized gatherings, and public events. The National Park Service (NPS) issues this permit for activities that benefit a specific individual, group, or organization rather than the general public and require oversight to protect park resources and visitor experiences. This permit ensures that events comply with park regulations, respect the historic character of the site, and do not disrupt public access.
