Overview
The National Capital Region Wildlife Biologist provides technical assistance for conserving and managing native animals and achieving effective control of invasive animals. The wildlife biologist coordinates assessment of wildlife populations and assists in management through research partnerships. He reviews management plans for compliance with NPS policies and the National Environmental Policy Act. The biologist develops and coordinates training sessions, workshops, and symposia to educate park staff about wildlife management in relation to NPS natural resource management policy.

- Deer Monitoring - Assisting parks with deer monitoring efforts. (ongoing)
- Animal Care and Use Committee - Helping parks with permits for wildlife research. (ongoing)

Mesocarnivore study - Camera survey for mescarnivores in select NCR parks to determine presence of fisher, fox, raccoon, coyote, bobcat, and possum populations. (ongoing)
