Project Manager/General Engineer-Denver Service Center

Position Description: The Department of the Interior (DOI)/National Park Service (NPS) is recruiting a Commissioned Corps Officer to fill multiple positions of Project Manager/General Engineer with a duty station in Lakewood, CO – or duty station is negotiable. Selectees must be able to report daily to a DOI facility. Only officers in the Engineer Officer category will be considered. Incumbent serves as a Project Manager in the Division of Design and Construction within the Denver Service Center (DSC). Incumbent works under the direction of one of the Branch Chiefs of the Division. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for, and has authority for, initiating, establishing, guiding, and controlling multiple DSC design/construction projects from inception through completion. Incumbent uses knowledge of the NPS organization, DSC operations and processes, financial and scheduling processes, as well as leadership skills to guide teams and project formulation and development through to completion of quality projects that are within scope, budget, and schedule commitments. Incumbent serves as the single point of contact with overall technical and administrative responsibility, accountability, and authority for ensuring that the project is completed as negotiated on major, highly complex, multi-phased projects. Position Description: The Department of the Interior – Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Western Region is recruiting a Commissioned Corps officer to fill 1 cross-functional Project Manager position within the Division of Environmental, Safety, and Cultural Resources Management (DESCRM) and the Division of Facilities Management with a duty station in the Western Region (AZ, NV, UT, ID, CA). The mission of the BIA is to enhance the quality of life, to promote economic opportunity, and to carry out the responsibility to protect and improve the trust assets of American Indians, Indian tribes and Alaska Natives. Position Description: This position serves as the subject matter expert and principal advisor responsible for developing and coordinating the safety, occupational health, and environmental management programs for the Southern Network of parks (see list above). The position plays a significant leadership role for the Network and interacts directly with the Southern Network Board of Directors, consisting of Superintendents from each national park unit. Together these parks manage approximately 10 million across of land within the states of Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and California. The position’s work and productivity will have direct impact on the safety, health, and wellbeing of over 700 employees, thousands of volunteers, and over 10 million park visitors per year. This position will be duty stationed at one of the Network parks, will be supervised by the Superintendent of that park, and will provide professional safety and environmental management services to the other parks as directed by the Southern Network superintendents.
