Wolf Creek flows through the Abingdon Muster Grounds in Abingdon, Virginia. This site is the western trailhead of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail.

Choate's Ford across the Holston River in Bluff City, Tennessee. This point was the river crossing used by Virginia patriots on their way to the gathering at Sycamore Shoals to then begin their march across the mountains.
