RockyMountain National Parkofficials announced that effective July 27, 2006 at 8 am, fire restrictions will be rescinded. Recent precipitation has lessened fire danger, however visitors are still warned to exercise caution with campfires and smoking materials. "We will continue to patrol campgrounds and monitor fire conditions daily. If it becomes necessary, stricter restrictions will be reinstated," stated Superintendent Vaughn Baker. "I would like to thank all of our visitors for their compliance with fire restrictions." Standard park regulations permit campfires within grates in designated campgrounds and picnic areas only. Open fires in backcountry campsites are prohibited, however the use of petroleum fueled stoves is permitted. For further information on fire conditions in the park, please contact the information office at 970-586-1206.
