Virtual Programs

The Saguaro National Park Education Team is proud to offer free virtual visits to classes anywhere in the world. Programs cover a wide variety of topics from Arizona history and the ancestral Sonoran Desert people to plants, animals and biodiversity. These interactive 30-45 minute presentations will allow students to discover the mission and work of the National Park Service and Saguaro National Park, and offer an opportunity for students to ask questions about our local ecosystem and history.

If multiple classes are interested in participating, all can join the same program together.

A Live Look at Saguaro (any grade level)

Join a ranger for a live-stream tour of the Sonoran Desert. The ranger will give background information on the park, and then offer a closer look at desert plants and landscape. Will we find recent evidence of wildlife? Cross paths with a critter? Experience the desert during snowfall? What we discover depends on the day and the curiosity of your students! Students can ask the ranger questions, and they can walk around and zoom in on things around the cactus forest.

Meet Saguaro National Park (any grade level)

Learn the story of Saguaro National Park and the plants and animals that call the park home in slideshow form. This program can be modified to cover particular topics of interest, such as park service careers, invasive species, or geology. There is built-in time for questions at the end of the presentation.

Reading Ranger (K-3rd grade)

Settle in for story time with a ranger. We have several beautifully illustrated books to share and explore with your students and presenting on a large screen means everyone can see and enjoy together.

Authority: Public Law 114-289 National Park Service Centennial Act and 54 U.S.C. 100701 Protection, interpretation, and research in System.

Purpose: To administer education programs for education audiences including but not limited to school groups, scouting groups, extracurricular groups, and home school groups.
