Santa Monica Mountains Educator Institute 2025

Join Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area education rangers and park partners to engage with your local National and State Parks. This 2-day workshop will emphasize inclusive practices in nature, support for outdoor learning, and will empower environmental topic discussions. Anticipate hands-on activities both indoors and outdoors that will encourage participants to integrate learnt knowledge into their classrooms/community events.

February 15th - February 16th, 2025

Who

The institute is open to K-12 educators, substitute educators, paraeducators, and “informal” educators.

Cost

FREE workshop. Materials will be covered for both days.
Day 1: Light breakfast and lunch provided.
Compensation: Participants may be eligible for attendance compensation. Lodging stipends may also be available for those traveling from afar.

After Action

Mandatory attendance to a post-workshop follow-up session to provide feedback.

A transportation stipend for a post-institute self-led program to the recreation area will be available for participants. It is preferred that the trip be completed by May 2025.
