By contributing your skills and knowledge through these rewarding and engaging opportunities, you are helping tell the story of what happened at Sand Creek, remembering those who were lost, and working toward a better future where such atrocities never happen again. Volunteer Positions:Volunteer InterpreterThis position is located at the Massacre Site 30 minutes outside of Eads and works both indoors and outdoors. Volunteer Interpreters welcome visitors to the site, provide basic information to assist in planning their visit, staff our non-profit bookstore, and answer questions on the local area. Additional opportunities for growth and experiences are encouraged. Free training is provided on an ongoing basis in addition to self-paced research. Maintenance VolunteerMaintenance volunteers assist outdoors with projects including protection from invasive species, fire prevention, landscaping, and trail maintenance to name a few. Free training is provided on an ongoing basis in addition to self-paced research. Group Service ProjectsGather your crew and plan a one-time volunteer project. Group service days are great for team building, hands-on learning, and a break from the routine. Gather your community organization, youth group, school, or faith group together and get outside to enjoy, and contribute to, your local National Park site. Consider contributing during one of these national days of service, MLK Day of Service in January, National Park Week in April, 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance in September, National Public Lands Day in September, or Veterans Day in November.
