NPS/Robert Wagner Scotts Bluff National Monument is spectacular any time of year. However, each season brings its own weather challenges. Students must be prepared with proper clothing and footwear for a comfortable visit. Dress for the weather. There is little shelter when hiking in the park. There are few trees to provide shelter from the wind, rain, snow, sun, etc. While most trails are paved, surfaces here are not uniform so tripping or twisting an ankle is a possibility with inadequate footwear. Sandals are not a good choice. Better choices are sneakers or hiking boots. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended.
