HIGHLIGHT! NPS Climate Change report for Springfield Armory NHS

In November of 2019, Springfield Amory National Historic Site conducted a Climate Friendly Parks (CFP) Workshop in conjunction with Coltsville National Historical Park.

The CFP team brought in various instructors and speakers to discuss topics such as:

  • Climate change science

  • Impacts in the northeast, and specifically in Springfield, MA

  • Greenhouse gas emissions

  • Energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities with historic structures

  • Preservation practices for urban landscapes and historic structures

  • Greening our fleet

  • Telling a climate change story

Park staff are currently finializing the park's Climate Action Plan and developing goals for greenhouse gas emission reductions. Please stay tuned as the report will be posted here after completion!
