This 50-week internship supports the Volunteers-In-Parks program, through which the NPS can accept and utilize voluntary help and services from the public. The CVA program is designed to inspire young adults and veterans (18-30 years old, up to 35 years old for veterans) who are service-focused, from diverse backgrounds, and aspire to future careers in conservation stewardship. The program will expose interns to the many different career paths that the NPS has to offer.

Community Volunteer Ambassadors at Stones River National Battlefield learn by managing a program that supports more than 1,200 volunteers who contribute more than 10,000 hours of service. The CVA's primary focus will be to enhance and expand youth volunteering opportunities through community outreach and partnership development.
