About

The geospatial community within the National Park Service uses spatial data, standards, and technical tools to understand, protect and help visitors enjoy our national parks. With Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing technology, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems we acquire and process current, accurate data about the parks. The advanced data collection methods, sophisticated analyses and cartographic techniques possible with such tools enable products that inform the National Park Service and its partners, engage the public, and broadly support the overall management and understanding of the nation's parks.
