Volunteers-in-Parks (VIPs) work side-by-side with National Park Service employees in parks and programs across the nation to help preserve our nation’s most precious natural, historical, recreational, and cultural treasures.
April 20 - 26, 2025
Each year, we celebrate National Volunteer Week to recognize the contributions of our volunteers. National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. Whether online, at the visitor center, or on the trail, doing good in parks comes in many forms, and we recognize and celebrate them all.
Join the celebration:
- Thank a volunteer. Are you visiting a national park site during National Volunteer Week? Say thank you to the volunteers you meet.
- Share your volunteer experience. Are you a proud volunteer? Share a photo and your volunteer story. Use #NPSVolunteer, #MyParkStory, and #NVW; and tag the park at which you volunteer and @nationalparkservice on Instagram and Facebook or @NatlParkService on Twitter.
- Sign up to volunteer. Learn more about volunteering or find a volunteer event near you.
