The Natural Resource Condition Assessment (NRCA) Program provides framework, funding, and publishing support to parks to aid in the synthesis and documentation of natural resource conditions. Condition assessment reports are a tool to describe selected park resources, and record a snapshot of their current condition, identify trends, and identify potential or current threats and stressors. Understanding the condition and trend of natural resources is key for parks and NPS planners to appropriately prioritize and allocate stewardship resources.

Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park is located in the Shenandoah Valley in northwest Virginia. The park encompasses more than 3,700 acres and includes a variety of habitats ranging from the Shenandoah River and its feeder creeks to woodlands and meadows. In addition to the National Park Service, the Park is managed by five key partner organizations who own and operate their sites independently. The NPS and its partners work together to preserve and interpret key historical sites from the Civil War and share the rich history of the Shenandoah Valley and its inhabitants.
