Fee Exemptions

Fee Exemptions – RM22A, 10.1.1

As stated in Management Policies 2006, those who lawfully enter or use a park for activities not related to recreation will not be charged an entrance fee, expanded amenity fee, or special recreation permit fee. Waivers are not granted based on economic justifications such as a group’s limited finances or the cost of travel to the park from a distant location.

If you would like to request a fee exemption, please contact e-mail us with your basic information and reason for requesting an entrance fee exemption. Possible fee exemption examples might be any of the following:

  • First Amendment activities.

  • Research activities authorized by the National Park Service (NPS).

  • Persons actively involved in medical treatment or therapy as a hospital patient/inmate, nursing home resident, or resident/patient of other long-term special care medical facilities.

  • Leaseholders or property owners accessing their property and their guests.

  • Members of American Indian tribes or traditionally associated groups entering a park for traditional activities.
