Youth Multimedia Program

Join the 2025 Summer Youth Multimedia Program

The program is a five-week program from July 7th-August 8th, 2025 at the White House Visitor Center (1450 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC). Students who apply should be committed to the full five-week program and expect to be outdoors up to 80% of the time in different summer weather conditions in the Washington, DC, New York City, and Alabama areas.

This is a five-week program for high school students entering 9th through 12th grade, with a passion for photography, videography, or journalism. This program is designed to help students explore the theories and practices of photography, videography, and journalism while boosting their awareness of the cultural and natural resources protected by the National Park Service. Students will learn photography, videography, journalism, and editing skills, explore national parks, and have their best work exhibited in the White House Visitor Center. As student volunteers, they help to tell the stories of national parks through their camera lens.

Testimonials

“Being able to express my passions and tell a story through a photo is something that I find very intriguing, and this program has taught me how to further my abilities in doing so. Not only have I learned how to capture the perfect moments and photos at various National Parks, but I learned the historical and culturally significant backgrounds of them.”
-Mina, 2024 Program Student

“I have also found that the diversity of this program is incredibly valuable. To be able to work with people from all different backgrounds and skill levels has not only aided us in forming relationships with one another but also insighted change within our local parks.”
-Olivia, 2024 Program Student

“The spirit of the park is made of not only the people who work and volunteer for them, but also the people who visit. I hope that with my photos, I can share the stories of those who make the parks possible.”
-Ryan, 2024 Program Student
