While Whitman Mission National Historic Site is often thought of as just a site of historical significance, nature abounds here. Throughout the park, numerous animals, plants, and fungi can be found, evidence of massive Ice Age floods reveals the geology of the area and climate change shows how this area is changing under new environmental pressures.
