We offer free, in-person professional development for teachers in Alaska! These workshops focus on how educators can leverage National Park Service lesson plans and resources to support their teaching. Participants will take part in activities and lesson plans that they can implement in their classroom.

Registration for our workshops during the 2025-26 school year is open to teachers that work in Fairbanks and surrounding communities. We have partnered with University of Alaska and Fairbanks North Star Borough School District to offer continuing education credit for local educators who attend all sessions.

Topics include:
  • Introduction to the Morris Thompson Center
  • Fairbanks History Walk
  • Stories in the Wild: Teaching Novels Using National Park Service Resources
  • Creating Identity Quilts in Celebration of America 250
  • From Researchers to Rangers: Teaching STEM with National Park Service Experts
  • Birchbark Basketry
  • Arctic Exercise
