Road improvement projects on the South Rim will cause delays up to 30 minutes and reduce available parking spots.

South Rim Drive Conditions (past visitor center)

Bare pavement with lingering stretches of snow and ice. Skiing is currently not possible. The road has not yet been groomed for the season; bicycles and leashed pets are still permitted. Once the road is groomed and enters "winter trail" status, bicycles and pets are no longer permitted.

Camping or sleeping in a vehicle is only allowed at a designated campsite you are registered to stay in.

Traffic

Between May and October, particularly on busy holiday weekends, you may experience long lines at the entrance road, and parking lots at popular trailheads and viewpoints can fill up.

Climbing Closures

Check annual climbing closures for protection of nesting raptors. These closures are effective March 15 to July 15.
