While the park does not charge an entrance fee, the National Park Pass and the DCR MassParks Pass does not cover transportation (ferry tickets).

Public ferries depart from Long Wharf North (Spectacle and Georges Islands) in downtown Boston as well as from Hingham Shipyard (Peddocks Island). Free parking is available in Hingham Shipyard to park visitors at the ticket office upon purchase of an island ferry ticket. Boats only carry passengers and are not able to accommodate vehicles.

To reserve tickets using the EBT discount online, visit EBT Card to Culture Organizations | Mass.gov and search for "Boston Harbor Islands." A code will be provided for use during your ticket purchase. Enter the code when purchasing tickets either at Ferry Tickets - Boston Harbor Islands or Harbor Islands Tours | City Experiences.

There is no inter-island ferry service currently in operation.

Each ticket includes round-trip service between the mainland and a single island. To visit two islands in one day, return to Boston and purchase a separate ticket for the ferry to the second island.

Camping is not allowed on Lovells, Bumpkin, or Grape Islands this season due to the need for new clevis systems and the lack of ferry service to those islands. Access to Peddocks Island is only available through Hingham this season.

Camping season typically begins in June and runs through Labor Day.

Reservations are required and can made through Reserve America on their website (https://www.reserveamerica.com/) or via phone (877-422-6762). Visit the Peddocks Island ticketing page to reserve your ferry tickets. Ferry capacities are limited. Campers are strongly encouraged to book ferry passage immediately after making their camping reservation! Reservations can be made up until 2:00pm on the day of camping. There are no walk-up reservations.

You will need to provide all items necessary for your stay.

This might include:

• Water
• Tent
• Food and cooking supplies (including charcoal)
• Bug Spray/Insect net
• Sunscreen
• Trash bags
• And any personal items.

Outside firewood is prohibited. Wood can be gathered on the island – ask staff for suggested locations. For more information, check out the Tips and Safety page on the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership website.

Lighthouse Cruises do not land on Little Brewster Island. These are 2-hour guided cruises to the outer harbor, providing views of Boston Light, Long Island Head Light, and Graves Light.

Currently, Boston Light and Little Brewster Island remain closed to the public. No additional information is available about when or if this will change. During the summer season, 2-hour narrated Lighthouse Cruises are available, offering close-up views of Boston Light, Long Island Head Light, and Graves Light. Dates for the 2025 season are still being finalized. Once available, ticket information will be posted on our websites.

Visitors are asked to leave behind any natural and cultural resources found on the islands, including sea glass, seashells, and ceramics. Learn more about our conservation policies on the Tips & Safety page, which includes our Leave No Trace Policy.

Pets are not allowed on any of the islands that are accessed by ferry. Leashed pets are allowed on any of the four mainland sites.

Service dogs are permitted on all islands. Visit Tips and Safety for information on what not to bring to the park.

Groups with 25 people or more are required to fill out a free Group Authorization Form. A Special Use Permit is necessary for private events, after- hours use of the park, or any activity requiring park staff support.

A photography or film/video production permit is required for commercial use on the islands.

Groups are encouraged to join public tours which are available daily. Check the park calendar to find upcoming tours. Private tours may be arranged based on staff availability. A Special Use Permit is required for private tours, and fees apply.
