Carlisle Federal Indian Boarding School National Monument is a new national park located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The national monument is within an active military installation, the US Army’s Carlisle Barracks, which includes the current home of the US Army War College. There are no visitor services at this time. Please check back in the Spring of 2025 for updates.

Access Requirements

There are no visitor services at this time. Please check back in the spring of 2025 for updates. Over the coming years, the National Park Service and US Army will work together on developing plans for routine visitation.

Because the national monument is within an active US military installation access is restricted and additional procedures are required to access to the site.

REAL-ID Compliant Driver's Licenses

Starting May 7, 2025, Carlisle Barracks will require REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses or identification to access the Installation.

Here is what you need to know:

REAL ID Driver Licenses: Using a driver's license for access MUST be REAL ID compliant.
Current Pass Holders: Existing passes using non-compliant licenses remain valid until expiration. Renewals require a REAL ID.
REAL ID Holders: No changes for those already using a REAL ID driver's license.
Alternative IDs: You can use a passport as another acceptable form of ID for access. Visit the Visitor Center, Mon.-Fri., or Claremont Gate.
Online Pre-Registration: Requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license. Online pre-registration does not currently accept Passports.
Escorted Access: If you don't have a REAL ID or passport, you or your sponsor can request escorted access.
